I was recently waiting for a flight at an airport where CNN was being broadcast on a television in the seating area for all to see. I am usually pretty annoyed at perpetual involuntary exposure to audial and visual stimuli but after watching for a couple of minutes I instead nearly felt compelled to stand up on one of the benches and shout out to the concourse world that everyone needed to partake of the news report at hand.
What was being shown was a special report on food in America called Fed Up: America’s Killer Diet. There are so many factors that most Americans are totally oblivious to in regard to what foods end up on our plates, how they are produced, what they are made of, how they are marketed, and what the true cost of the production of that food is for both the environment and our health. I have been doing my best to become educated about these issues myself over the past few years, but this is the first time I have seen it presented in mass media. I think everyone should watch this.
The report had recently been posted on YouTube but I discovered today that it has since been taken down. So, the best I could find was parts 2 through 5 on a myspace video page. Better watch it while you can – here are the links:
Bon appetite!
